ADSL Information
ADSL (Asymmetric
Digital Subscriber Line) is a technology which allows phone
calls and the Internet to be used on the same physical phone
line at the same time. Unlike a traditional modem that
places a phone call to an Internet provider, with ADSL your
computer is permanently connected to the Internet and allows
you to still make and receive telephone calls.
The service makes use of your existing
telephone line. It splits the signal into two, one for voice
communications and the other for the high-speed data
connection. It makes use of a frequency range not used in
normal voice communications.
